Stream will be on the Metropole Grid

I have always been a big fan of the intercontinental championship event and when I heard it was canceled this year I thought it would be worth running a similar event in it's honer!

This event is specifically set up to support the Showdowns I run and Online organized play. There are a few ways you can qualify for the event.

1. The top 6 players from each 2025 Online Showdown
2. The 2025 CBI Champion
3. The three 2025 Online Continental Champions
4. The 2025 Worlds Champion
5. The top player ranked on the season 3 Beanstalk on Nov 1st.

There will be no hand down invitations. If anyone qualifies twice or can not attend all remaining slots will be filled from the beanstalk based on season 3 Nov 1st rankings.

Ultimate Showdown Event Structure:

The format will be standard with open lists during the whole event. For a hopefully fun and dramatic event we will be using a modified version of the SSS + cut. The event will be triple elimination. Once you lose 3 games, you will be eliminated under most circumstances. 



The first 6 rounds of the event will be paired using SSS. Players with four wins after the 6 rounds will move on to a “top 8 cut”. During the cut rounds players will still be eliminated based on their initial 3 lives, but changing way rounds are paired towards the end of the event will hopefully lead to a more dramatic finish. From the simulations I ran, this should run fairly smoothly, but there are some outliers which I will try and cover here for those who like to know what’s going to be happening with edge cases. 


Edge Cases I have planned for:

There will be no ties. Every player in the event will have a seed that will be used to break ties in the event that the game would usually result in a tie. 


During the first 6 rounds, players will always be eliminated in even numbers. If an odd number of players would be eliminated, the highest ranked player with 3 losses is “saved”. 


After the 6 rounds of SSS are complete, there is a chance that less than 8 players have all three lives remaining. In that case, all players 3/3 will still have a slim chance of winning, and I will explain how that works if we end up in that situation. If after the 6 rounds of SSS, there are more than 8 players with all 3 lives remaining, we will play a tiebreaker round to determine the final 8
