Welcome to 2026! Let’s kick things off right with a Startup tournament.

Format

We will be playing the Startup format using the most current banlist (Startup Balance Update 25.11 as of this writing).

Registration

Entry fee is $20 paid to the organizer. Cash at the event or venmo to @jzhanson.

Logistics

This is a Casual level event. Decklists not required.

If we have < 16 players, we will play 6 rounds of Single Sided Swiss. If we have > 16 players, we will play 6 rounds of Single Sided Swiss with a Top 4 cut.

Each round will be 40 minutes. We will aim to wrap up Swiss around 4-5 pm. and the Top Cut by 6 pm.

Registration opens at 10:00 am and games begin at 10:30 am. There will be a ~50 minute lunch break after round 2.

Venue

This event will take place at the Game Kastle Santa Clara, 1350 Coleman Ave, Santa Clara, CA, 95050. There is usually enough parking before in their parking lot, but you can always park along some side streets. The venue is a 10 minute walk from the Santa Clara Caltrain station.

Outside food is permitted. Game Kastle Santa Clara also sells some snacks, drinks, and instant noodles. There's fast food and other fast casual food within walking distance.
