Join us on Saturday, November 22, at Victory Point Cafe in Berkeley for a Janksgiving charity Netrunner tournament! Janksgiving is a charity tournament format aimed at raising money to help fight housing and food insecurity. The tournament is in person - ABR is having issues and so it's listed as online, but it's not!
How does it work?
You will first generate a set of Jank rolls using the handy dandy Jankpplication, The Janksgiver (very kindly made by @solemn_storm) which can be found here: Janksgiver. Copy and post these rolls in the Bay Area Netrunner Discord. You will then choose one full set of those rolls for each side, Corp & Runner, and build decks with them using the deckbuilding rules below. If you really don't like any of your initial rolls on one side, you can take one free mulligan. You may only do this for ONE SIDE, and you must use your Mulliganed roll, even if you think it's worse than the first 3. Sometimes the jank gods are not smiling on us. There are currently no other known reasons to get a mulligan, but weird stuff happens all the time, so if you think you deserve one, message me (tzeentchling) on Discord and I'll take a look. I don't really have a way of policing these rolls, but it's a casual level charity tournament, so don't be a dick.
We'll play 3-4 rounds, depending on attendance, of double sided swiss to determine the Jankschampion!
Deckbuilding Rules
This is a casual level event. Decklists are not required unless you want to show off your wombo combo. Use your weirdest alt arts. Your opponents will be looking at the top card of R&D with confusion already anyway.
Entry fee is a minimum $10 donation, with no maximum. Go with your heart, but don't go broke. Because this is a charity tournament, the cafe has graciously waved their usual entry fee for using the space, so take advantage of that! The winner of Janksgiving will get the most coveted prize: to be allowed to choose the charity to which all of the donations are sent, so long as they address food or housing insecurity.
Everyone will receive an alt-art ID prize for participating, picked in finish order from a prize pool I've assembled with pictures below. We'll have 12 playsets of a special alt-art Gour(d)mand from local artist Jinksey to give out as well. And the last-place player (who finished all their games) will get a special prize, because the jankiest of the jank should also be rewarded. More prizes may become available as the date gets nearer, but it will definitely be worth turning out for!
