Some of you might know that I'm meant to be writing my thesis right now. Unsurprisingly, I am very bored with it.
SO HERE'S A NETRUNNER TOURNAMENT (airhorn noises)
Venue: B2.04/5, Science Concourse, Warwick University. The map on the sidebar only shows the uni and refuses to be more specific, but the Interactive Campus Map has more details.
Registration from: 11:00.
Tournament begins: 11:30, with a lunch break after round 2.
Entry fee: £6, with all fees going towards paying for the CO kit and any surplus going towards additional participation prizes.
Format: Single-Sided Swiss in Standard.
EDIT (17/5): THE NEW BANLIST RELEASED ON THE 17TH IS LEGAL FOR THIS EVENT.
EDIT (20/5): The Tag Mill, a new studio run by local Netrunner players SeaRose and ZoeHope, will be selling some of their work for the first time at this CO! Please have a look at the bottom of this event description to see what they are selling. (I tried to upload the photos to ABR, but it seemed to be having none of it...)
Welcome to another Warwick University Circuit Opener! It doesn't have a theme like the previous one, but I hope that you still come and enjoy it.
Please sign up if you are coming so I have an idea of numbers!
This is a standard format event likely consisting of 6, 40 minute rounds of single-sided swiss. If we get 16 or more players, there will be a top 4 single-elimination cut!
The full planned schedule is as follows, which contains buffer time:
11:30-12:10: Round 1
12:20-13:00: Round 2
13:00-13:50: Lunch
13:50-14:30: Round 3
14:40-15:20: Round 4
15:30-16:10: Round 5
16:20-17:00: Round 6
17:00-18:30: (roughly) top cut
Those of you who came to my previous CO will remember A Festive Netrunner Story That WIll Also Explain How The Tournament Works, I Hope. I don't know if I'll have something like that prepared! While I am procrastinating my thesis by writing this tournament, it also uses up all of my writing brain! I'm limited to one joke a day please help
The event is held on the Warwick University campus, on central campus. Note that this is different to previous COs! This is easier for everyone except for those walking from Canley station. Here are some tips so that you don't get lost:
If you get lost or are running late, message @harmonbee on Discord or Slack.
Prizes consist of the Circuit Opener H1 2024 kit distributed as is required for a CO. I have a boosted kit, but will split it into two normal-sized kits if attendance is low. Assuming that enough people attend, a boosted kit gives the Cat's Cradle playmat to top 4, the Prepaid Voicepad alt art to top 8 and the Tatu-Bola alt art to top 16. (If I use a normal-size kit instead, halve each of these numbers.)
I will also give out participation prizes while I have stock, but my stash is running a bit low and consists of prizes from other tournaments that I've run - so if you've been to those I can't promise that I'll have anything new. I'll try my best!
Circuit Openers are the inaugural and midseason event of the competitive season. They will be run by local organizers. The 2024 H1 kit contains:
3 x Cat's Cradle Playmat (Bruno Balixa)
15 x Prepaid VoicePAD (Elizaveta Sokolova)
27 x Tatu-Bola (Cat Shen)
6 x Drafter (Scott Uminga)
I have a boosted kit, and some participation prizes from my stash.
