This will be the first of what I hope will become monthly "no-stakes" tournaments at Gamescape. The goal of this tournament is not prestige, but practice playing in a competitive setting against the clock, and a chance to test out whatever decks you've been into, whether they're on meta or not. This tournament will be very casual, and a great chance for newer players to get familiar with tournament rules in a friendly setting. All are welcome, regardless of skill or experience.

We'll start around 6 pm and play 4 rounds of single sided swiss using the standard cardpool. Each round will be 40 minutes long. Feel free to drop in late or drop out early as needed. Registration is free. Prizing for the event will just be the regular alt art giveaways for all, but first and last place can take home a full playset instead of just a single card.

The rough schedule is:
6:00 - intro and announce round 1 pairings
6:05-6:45 - Round 1
6:55-7:35 - Round 2
7:45-8:25 - Round 3
8:35-9:15 - Round 4

At the end of the swiss rounds, people can stay and hang out or keep playing until Gamescape kicks us out at 10 pm.

This event coincides with our regular Thursday night meetup, so all are welcome, even if you don't want to play in the timed swiss rounds.

If you have any questions or want to hang out with us online, join us on discord or slack!

This event is graciously hosted by Gamescape during their TCG Open Play Night. You can check out all the details here.

A few notes about the venue:

  • There's no water available, so make sure to bring a water bottle.
  • Outside food and drink is allowed so feel free to bring food from home or pick up food nearby on Divisadero.

Additional prizes and information

To keep the event no-stakes, there is no special prizing for this event beyond the regular alt-arts we give away each week -- everyone can take home a card from our fabulous supply of alt art cards, including official cards from FFG, NSG, and community artist alt arts!

Both the first and last place players can take home a full playset of the card of their choice.
