The second biggest tournament of the year -- and Melbourne's first ever Circuit Opener -- will (most likely) be held on Sunday 7 August 2022. Midnight Sun will be legal. If the MPC group buy has landed I will bring your order to the store. In any case: proxies will be legal.

What is a Circuit Opener?

Circuit Openers provide an exciting opportunity for local communities to come together in friendly competition. They are casual events, but offer more prize support than usual. Plus, an invite to the 2022 Circuit Breaker Invitational will go to the winner (or highest-placed player who has not yet received an invite yet).

Format

The event will be run in Startup Format. All cards from the following 5 sets are legal:

  • System Gateway
  • System Update 2021
  • Downfall
  • Uprising
  • Midnight Sun

This event will have 6 rounds of single-sided Swiss. This means that you will meet a new opponent after every game.

Timing

  • 9:00 Registration
  • 10:00 Rounds 1 to 4
  • 12:30 Lunch break (30 minutes)
  • 13:00 Rounds 5 to 6
  • 14:30 Prizes awarded.
Players may 'drop' or withdraw from the event at any time.

Entry and Prizes

$15 entry covers the cost of the event kit. The prize pool will expand with the number of participants.

Boosted Prize Structure:

Winner: Invitation to the Circuit Breaker Invitational Championship.
Top 2: Hákarl 1.0 playmat (Jakuza).
Top 4: 3× Obokata Protocol (Olie Boldador).
Top 7: 3× Simulchip (Kira Nguyen).
Plus abundant door prizes!

Safety First

As always, we will follow Covid-safe settings. If COVID-19 developments prevent the event running in-store, I will run the event online via the Melbourne Netrunner Discord and Jinteki.net.

Get in touch

You can always get in touch with the Melbourne Netrunner community on our Discord channel.
